'John Constable' with the Royal Academy, 2003

Mary Anne Stevens talks about how Constable's awareness of the work of both Ruisdael and Claude Lorrain contributed to his sophisticated construction of landscapes especially in his 'six-footers' such as 'The Leaping Horse'.

Michael Rosenthal declares that the Royal Academy holds a wonderful collection of Constables. He also says that it is appropriate that the RA should have a collection that essentially reflect what he calls the 'London Constable'.
