who we are

Art of Memory specialises in the production of media the delivery of digitisation services to the heritage and cultural sector.

Sarah Beecham is an art historian who originally trained as a Fine Artist, who brings a specialist knowledge and interest in working with curators and collections.

We have been in the business since the 1980s and during that time have worked with many varied and interesting clients.

The services we provide have changed over the years but our core focus is based on interpretive media and narrative content.

This movie is an example from our on-going involvment with the RA which centres around their own collection and its display in the recently refurbished Fine Rooms.
Peter Freeth, the RA Schools Professor of Printing, demonstrated Mezzotint printing in order to elucidate Turner’s ‘Liber Studiorum’.

Our involvement with the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art included most aspects of our work.
We digitised 5x4 transparencies of the entire collection, and produced:-
• a bespoke Collections Management System
• an interactive kiosk
• a website

An interview with theatre director, Tim Supple, which formed part of an EU Research Project working for Opera North.
We used their production of Magic Flute to provide illustrative material for the project and as a background for interview material elucidating what was involved in an opera’s production and what was relevant about opera to a contemporary audience.

Digitisation/scanning & treatment/retouching
We offer a specialist service of image digitisation for specialist collections, these are
usually related to kiosk or website use.

We have recently undertaken the re-touching, optimisation and re-sizing of a representative selection of images from the Palace of Westminster’s collection.
